Archipelago classic
For many people, Svartsö Krog is a destination in itself. Many of the guests make a day trip of it on one of the archipelago boats that serve the island. Others moor their own boats, and yet others stay in the luxury tents that make up Svartsö Logi. If you haven’t booked a table before coming, you may end up without one – even if the staff always do their very best to ‘sort something out’. The restaurant, which at this point can be counted among the classic Stockholm archipelago eateries, is a stone’s throw from the steamer jetty. With a glass of rosé in your hand and a deliciously salty tarte flambée on your plate, it’s easy to linger for hours on the terrace overlooking the bay. If the weather turns less amenable it’s just as cosy to sit indoors or hang at the bar. The ingredients at the core of the menu are more or less local and seasonal, meaning that flavours get richer as the days grow shorter. Besides the à la carte, there’s a good-value lunch offer that changes daily, and includes salad and bread.
