Building on a great transatlantic heritage

Firmly anchored smack in the city center of Oslo – the fore proudly facing the Central Station and the stern the harbor and the Opera – its architecture more than suggests a majestic ocean-liner.

The former headquarters of The Norwegian America Line has been successfully converted into a slick boutique hotel, combining luxury and voyage nostalgia in a respectful, yet innovative manner – not unlike a re-edition of collectors’ sneakers. The transatlantic theme and the New York connection echo lightly throughout the property, without falling into the trap of fakes. The original Neo-Baroque facade from 1919 stands in beautiful contrast to modern interiors and rooms that can be unlocked by your mobile key. Standard rooms pay homage to the cruise ship heritage by their cabin size, look and feel and suites display unique objects from the original ocean-liners along with a slight 1960’s interior touch, the heyday of this shipping legend. All rooms have spacious bathrooms with herringbone mosaics and very yacht-y wooden cabinets and fittings. Easy-to-use Chromecast connects guests to the outside world. In fact, it’s just outside the door.

This being one of Oslo's most centrally located hotels, it’s the perfect starting point to explore the vibrant shopping area around the legendary Karl Johan avenue, the world-famous Opera House or the nearby nightlife of Youngstorget. Freshly baked bagels at the all-day brasserie can fuel any outing. If you want to stay in, the hotel offers stillness in the library, a happy buzz in the Pier 42 cocktail bar and engaging rhythms in the New York-inspired jazz club – as well as a kickback to life in the Finnish sauna on a cold rainy day.
