Welcome home
Ett Hem (a home) is a well-chosen name, for who wouldn’t want to live here – for good? The stately mansion in the affluent diplomatic quarter not only has its own garden and greenhouse, lovely shared spaces, a gym and relax area – the interiors, by Ilse Crawford, are so personal, luxurious and charming that you can only capitulate. The expression ‘a home away from home’ is truly apt here. In the rooms and suites (some with their own fireplace and/or balcony), Scandinavian design icons, modern art, piles of books, cuddly sheepskins and quaint antiques create a sense of comfort. Yet it’s in the shared spaces that Ett Hem really shows its best side. Mix a drink or pour yourself a glass of wine in the honesty bar, sink into a sofa and enjoy the discreet attentions of the solicitous staff as soft vinyl music plays in the background. Have dinner at one of the three tables, perhaps in the company of other guests. Or wander into the kitchen at any time of the day or night and ask the cooks what they have to offer. Breakfast is served wherever you want it. Book your room well in advance, because superstars and their entourages like to book all twelve rooms when they’re in town.
