Legendary alley dwelling

Gamla Stan is a must for many visitors to Stockholm. Strolling around the narrow cobbled alleys and taking in all the beautiful and well preserved buildings are simply things you have to have done. In one such building from the 17th century, the Bengtsson family runs their unique boutique hotel named after Lord Nelson’s flagship, the HMS Victory. Guests are treated to a particularly rich collection of nautical and other antiques, in the hotel’s public areas and the rooms. Remnants of a tower that was part of Stockholm’s defensive wall in the 14th century, Leijontornet, are also on show. From the smallest single to the grandest suite, every room is named after seafaring captains. They are individually decorated and vary in size from 13 sq m to a luxurious 35 sq m and the magnificent suite at 56 sq m. If the maritime theme should be too much, you can always opt for the sister hotel, the Lady Hamilton, where you can also take your afternoon tea. Gastronomy is particularly important to the Bengtsson family: Djuret, the celebrated meat restaurant, is next door, and highly rated Flickan is part of the same group – plus a few more. There are a number of very pleasant conference rooms for large and small groups.
