Clarion Hotel Post

You’d be hard pressed to find a more magnificent entrance than this one: a gilded wall beautifully frames the doors leading into Petter Stordalen’s premium hotel in Gothenburg. The old post office in Drottningtorget, less than a minute’s walk from the central station, was given a complete makeover and opened as a hotel in 2012. Much of the old post office architecture was maintained and spectacularly combined with dark, muted materials and colours, but also with modern Scandinavian furniture. All Clarion hotels share a sustainability approach, exemplified here in the all-organic breakfast buffet and the possibility of opting out of room cleaning in order to reduce the use of power, water and chemicals. Guest are everywhere reminded of the importance of sustainability, and leave the hotel feeling like better human beings. By all means don’t miss the pool on the roof, open all year round and heated when necessary. The view is striking! The Clarion Post is also a gastro destination, with an award--winning sushi restaurant, vRå, and several large bars where you are well advised to dive deep into the city’s impressive craft beer offering.
