The manor on the plain
The surrounding agricultural land is strikingly beautiful. It’s not far to Lake Hornborga, where tourists flock to watch the cranes stop over on their yearly migration. A pretty avenue leads to the magnificent manor house designed by Ferdinand Boberg; much of the interior and the furnishings are his designs too. Most of this has been preserved in the original art nouveau commissioned Knut Henrik Littorin and his family. A stuffed bear on its hind legs welcomes visitors on the marble staircase. Carved oak, herringbone parquet floors and a wealth of photographs from a bygone era tell stories about the wealthy businessman. The obliging staff make one feel immediately at ease. There are 35 spacious rooms in various styles, with very comfy beds and sparkling bathrooms. Food and drink are taken seriously. The generous breakfast buffet is laid out in the lovely dining room with a view over the gardens, very pleasant to stroll in. Bread baked on the premises, local apple juice and much more, most of it organic. Golfers can sink their spikes into nearby turf. Massages can be booked, and there’s a sauna. It’s easy to relax and simply enjoy here.
