Cosy castle splendour
The fairy tale-style castle, hidden behind a tall thuja hedge, lies above Göta River in pastoral surroundings. Inside the gates are an English-style garden with a fountain, beautiful old trees, a statue of the first owner, Petter Larsson, and a herb garden with a flock of ducks. Big names in international politics have visited, and the TV reality show ‘Stjärnorna på slottet’ was shot here. There’s an open fireplace, oriental carpets and leather armchairs in the entrance hall. Gilded décor, flower arrangements and rococo-style furniture feature in the bedrooms and the drawing rooms. Guests are received by staff dressed in period livery. Rooms are spread between several buildings. Lejonkulan, where the wine cellar is, has the only television, but kubb, croquet and other lawn games are available to borrow. Nearby are lovely walking trails through varied terrain with waterfalls and moss-covered paths, for pre-dinner strolls. A hot tub and a sauna are also available. No à la carte menu – instead ambitious dinner spreads can be pre-booked, and are included in the various packages: weekend, weekday luxury, a midsummer night’s dream, yoga retreat...
