Copperhill Mountain Lodge

Even as you near the hotel on winding mountain roads you begin to sense that something grand awaits you – and Copperhill delivers, with magnificent views over Åresjön and the surrounding mountains. Once inside you quickly forget any storms or hailstones you may have encountered, for the place radiates warmth. An impressive granite fireplace and spectacular lounge are the heart of the hotel, whence your gaze rises to the many galleried floors above. Thus seduced by the first impression you proceed to check in to a fairly standard room. Actually, PlayStations may not yet be standard in most hotel rooms, as they are here. A sop to families with children, of course. And in fact there’s more for the youngest guests: downstairs is an activity room where they can keep themselves busy, perhaps as their parents enjoy the spa’s plunge pools and lounge chairs. Still, there are also plenty of middle-aged couples among the guests enjoying good food and drink on their mountain outing.
