U&Me Hotel

The Väven culture centre in the -centre of Umeå is also home to this 13-storey contemporary-clever hotel, U&Me. Don’t expect a classical hotel lobby – instead you step straight onto the piazza, into the crowds between the restaurant, café, delicatessen and library. You check in yourself at a desk between the escalator and the lift. Keep your personal code handy and it’ll go like clockwork. And don’t be in too much of a hurry when you step out of the lift – at your feet is the best possible view for familiarising yourself with the town. Carefully tended parks wind alongside the flowing waters of the river – perfect for a morning run or stroll. Rooms are available in sizes S, M, L and XL; an M room is fine for a shorter stay. To optimise the use of space, the sink has been placed in the room and the toilet and shower reduced in size. Best of all is the position of the bed. You fall asleep and wake up with your eyes towards the Norrland skies, which are equally fascinating in summer and winter. Breakfast and dinner, and everything you need in between, are best had in the piazza, which has one of Umeå’s top restaurants and events of various kinds several times a week.
