Yasuragi

Yasuragi is first and foremost a Japanese spa, beautifully sited in the archipelago, close enough to Stockholm to make it accessible. Tourists, tired parents of toddlers, groups of friends and pensioners come here to wind down and recharge. An important part of the concept is to get out of your clothes quickly and switch off your phone. Here everybody wears the same outfits – the hotel’s signature blue yukatas and slippers – regardless of whether they’re here to bathe, eat or do yoga. The spa received a significant upgrade in 2017, and now offers most kinds of hot and cold springs, indoors as well as out. Most of the rooms are rather small, in the bare Japanese style, and many have no TV. There are also several bigger suites with their own baths – but you won’t be spending your time here in your room. In addition to the spa there’s an activity programme that includes yoga, qigong and sound meditation, several quiet oases with chairs that rock you calm, a large and pleasantly heated sleeping sauna, fish foot baths, and a Japanese garden. The choice of food is comprehensive, with everything from a fully vegan restaurant to a showier teppanyaki and sake bar.
