This local bar on Katarina Bangata is clearly inspired by New York’s Jewish gastronomy and style. The space is small but always full of hipsterish guests slurping Matzo Ball soup and eating sauerkraut Reuben sandwiches. Beer snacks include mildly pickled cucumber with smetana and honey. The feeling of having stepped into someone’s kitchen comes from the idiosyncratic, slightly disorderly decoration – if there’s no space at the bar or in the bay window, try the heated area outside. Five taps change contents at irregular intervals – at the moment it’s all from Swedish small-scale breweries. The rest of the tinned and bottled selection is from all over the world, and displayed behind the bar. Staff are quick and informal, as you might expect in a place that relishes regulars.
