A Country House in the City
You’ll find Mimosa in Tallinn’s Järve neighborhood, fairly close to the city center, in an old wooden house with a big backyard. The ambiance alone makes this a worthwhile destination; a former single-family home with a verdant garden, like a country house in the city, where it doesn’t take much imagination to envision a gardening grandmother and chickens pecking busily on the lawn. Grandma makes predominantly traditionally Estonian food the way it’s eaten in Estonian homes. Chicken is skillfully roasted, its skin crunchy and its meat extra juicy. The house specials of various mousses, creams and purees imbue the entire menu with silky soft textures. Naturally, the house drink is the mimosa, made with sparkling wine and freshly squeezed orange juice. Don’t even think of leaving without trying one of the house-made digestifs. They are excellent.
