Where the Restaurant Industry Eats

The petite, plain house near Tallinn’s city center doesn’t look like much, the restaurant it houses doesn’t scream ‘great food’. Eateries in buildings like these tend to offer simple fare. But stepping through Kolm Sibulat’s door will prove that a preconceived notion. This is where restaurant workers from city’s better establishments spend their evenings off. If they like it, so will you. It’s also a favorite haunt of local foodies––when they’re not busy checking out new joints.

So what do these connoisseurs eat here? A peculiar blend of Asian and Nordic cuisine, with noodles particularly prized and coriander used with a heavy hand. And what do they drink? Probably the signature G&Ts and house liquors, from a selection on the separate beverage list. The service is quick and efficient, sometimes too efficient, at least in the eyes of those who come here to relax. The waiters will, however, regal you with stories of each dish.

Don’t be deceived by the humble building and don’t pay attention to the dine-and-dash crowds that sometimes gather here. Kolm Sibulat (Three Onions) is where you want to linger longer, and where you’ll want to become a regular.
