This might just be the world’s only restaurant within a bookshop, which means that the tiny country of Estonia came up with something entirely unique. At Telliskivi Rahva Raamat you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner with a side of literature., served in a warm, modern dining room, dotted with potted plants. Eating while surrounded by words and ideas is an interesting experience. The menu reads like a Dostoevsky novel––it’s extremely long and aims to please everyone, from the carnivore and the vegetarian, to the vegan and the gluten intolerant. It might just be a bit too elaborate, running in multiple culinary directions, but every book has its readers, and every dish its eaters. Tallinn’s Telliskivi neighbourhood is rife with restaurants, yet Rahva Raamat is always packed.
