A temple to living wines
A stroll through the premises also serves as a preview of the menu: first, a temperature-controlled, glassed-in wine room, then a tableau of delicious cheeses, and then the rotisserie, where slow-roasted celeriac and chickens unhurriedly revolve. Julie is a temple dedicated to living wines, served both on tap and from the bottle – our waiter even sports a wine-bottle tattoo, not unlike a religious icon. Julie is run by the people behind Hörte Brygga, and here the idea of dinner is an upgraded luxury picnic where you assemble your meal from roasted delicacies, Marsvinsholm charcuteries, homemade pâté, veg accompaniments and of course fabulous cheeses from Androuet. The dining room/wine bar is attractive, buzzy and pleasant, but forget about booking a table – spontaneity is all here. In the summer we gravitate towards the ultra-cosy courtyard here in the heart of Malmö’s Gamla Väster district.
